LADIES! This is a public service announcement. Sephora just landed an Olaplex product in their stores, and we need to talk about it! I’ve been on a bit of a hair care journey this past year, experimenting with lighter color, and consequently lots of blonde shampoos, heat protectants, oils, mists, and ALOT of dry shampoo, and today I finally found a holy grail hair product AND it’s probably now available at a Sephora near you!
I read recently that Kate Middleton (hair goals by the way) spends $20,000 a year on hair treatments, including things like keratin/olaplex treatments, obviously a full-time hair stylist, and expert colorist, etc. Let me reiterate… $20,000. In that moment I knew that I needed to step up my hair care game, not $20,000 worth, but I realized I could definitely put in some more effort. This year, I finally found a hairdresser who is amazing and literally looks at any saved Instagrams and is like “I GOT THIS,” which definitely makes a difference in terms of trying new things, but also I’ve been focusing a little less on makeup and trying to make a more natural look work, which means my hair needs to look put together. My rule of thumb, if your makeup is perfect, your hair should be a little messy, if your hair is perfect, your face should be a little more natural, but something should always seem a little effortless and undone, as it seems fresh and young.
Anyway, today I tried the Olaplex Hair Perfector, which IS NOT a conditioner. The bottle has clear instructions, but even though it looks like a conditioning product, you actually use it before you wash your hair. I was skeptical, as it said to put onto towel dried hair, and then continue your normal hair care routine, like what? Why would my hair be wet/towel dried before I washed it? I went with it, and I’m so glad I did. This product not only smelt amazing, but my hair instantly felt softer, like even while it was wet. I followed the instructions and left it to sit for about 10 minutes, and then washed and conditioned my hair like normal, I towel dried, and then blow dried my hair, and it made a world of difference. My hair is so soft and so shiny, and this is like a magical little bottle of Kate Middleton hair dreams!!! It’s currently sold out on Sephora’s website and I know why, because I literally look like I just got my hair done, cue the dramatic hair flips.
