Here we are, a blog post years in the making. My life is full of new, and I feel a little new too and wanted to, of course, share with all of you.
First things first, my new job! So, if you know me IRL, or if you’re following me on Instagram, or happen to be subscribed to my YouTube channel then you probably already know that I have accepted a job offer from Etsy! I couldn’t be more excited. Etsy is my dream company and this is my dream job, and a success story YEARS in the making. I’ve applied for this job, not once, not twice, but at least three times over the past five years and this time happened to be the charm. I literally can’t stop smiling about it! Etsy has always been a place I considered the dream workplace, from their culture, to the shopping experiences I’ve had; I’ve bought from sellers who have gone on to follow me on Instagram, who I still DM, and who have my phone number and text me, it all started with a sale, that led to a blog post, that led to a review, that led to a sense of community unlike any other retail experience I’ve ever had, and now I am so proud to work for Etsy.
Here’s the thing guys, I could have gotten rejected once and stopped applying, I could have let the second “no” tear me down, but I didn’t, I kept applying because I believed in myself and my dream and that this job was meant for me. I’ve been listening to Second Life, a Podcast about women leaning into a new life and a new career and starting their second life, and in one episode Candace Nelson, founder of Sprinkles [cupcakes] says… “There were so many moments when I thought ‘oh my gosh, maybe this really isn’t gonna happen, I’ve devoted so much time to it, but maybe it’s just a dream, maybe I just need to give up,’ but I wasn’t one of those people who was willing to do that…” I heard this line right before applying in June and in that moment decided that no matter what the outcome, if I didn’t get the job I wasn’t going to give up. So, here I am, also one of those people not willing to give up and now one of those people about to start their second life! My first day is next week and I couldn’t be more excited to be sharing this part of my new life with all of you…
Having my dream job is giving me the confidence and sense of security to make a few other big life moves happen too, which is also breaking news, but you’ll have to wait for another post for that news…so stay tuned!
Amazing and so proud!!!
Thank you for the comment and for being such a positive influence in my early work life – think of you often!
