Hi all – and happy fall! I have been noticeably absent as of late, and I know it was only recently that I promised I was back and back for good, but life got in the way, as it always has a tendency to do. So, today, I am officially back and I hope for good because I’ve got a really busy October planned for you guys, including a blog post, you might want to sit down for this, every Monday AND every Friday! That’s right a new blog post twice a week, partially because I have a lot of posts sitting in my drafts that were just missing a few finishing touches before publication, but also because October is my absolute favorite month and the turning leaves, crisp fall air, and all the pumpkin lattes have got me feeling v creative.
I feel obligated to tell you guys what I’ve been up to since my last blog post in early September, and honestly I’ve spent most of my time in the hospital, with my dad. I’m actually writing this as he sleeps and I sit in the ICU beside him (hopefully we’re both home by the time this goes up on the blog). For those who don’t know, it’s been almost a year since he was diagnosed with ALS. He was hospitalized in late August because of a fall; he broke some ribs and his collar bone, and then again in early September, and most recently mid-September for pneumonia. So, while I had the best intentions to write some amazing “summer is coming to a close” content, my summer ended too soon. I guess this is a good place to mention all the lovely people who reached out to my family and I and offered well wishes, warm dishes, and offered their warmth and love. I’ve gotten the sweetest messages and they always make me feel grateful for the wonderful, caring, and thoughtful people that I am lucky enough to know.
On a brighter note, I’ve decided to start the process of going back to school, which is so exciting but also makes me so nervous, but in that way that you just know it’s really healthy for you. I met with an admissions counselor the end of September and am scheduled to take the GRE the last week of October, which means if everything goes according to plan I’ll be back in school for Spring of 2019! If you know me in real life, you know that I’ve talked about going back to school literally since I got my degree in 2015, but I always felt like I needed more time, or like I didn’t know what classes to take. I’ve decided to start working toward an MBA at New Paltz and couldn’t be more pleased with myself.
Similarly, I’ve decided to say yes to being a part of a collaborative blog post on someone else’s blog, which is something I would normally apologetically decline and use an excuse like being busy at work, or being busy helping my parents at home, but I decided to say yes and I am SO glad I did. I won’t spoil anything, but look for that at the end of October, and I’ll be sure to link it when it comes out!
Sorry again for being quiet for so long, but just know even when I’m not posting regularly, I am constantly brainstorming, writing snippets that will someday turn into posts, and wondering what you guys want to see or hear next, let me know in the comments and look for an interview with Darren this Friday and a fall clothing haul coming out on Monday, both of which I can’t wait to post!
